Given the complexities of modern warfare with no frontlines as we once knew it, and the interplay between politics and journalism so much is left unsaid, and unseen, even by 'embedded' journalists.
Unsatisfied, soldiers from all ranks and countries have responded with a deluge of soul searing letters and poems; even pictures from the trenches to give their own accounts of the story while making history.
Loved ones, have also shared memorable letters, written by soldiers at the peak of battle; moments before their death. You will find these prophetic and strange, but grateful at the end.
SOLDIERSPOEMS.COM was conceived with an eye at posterity. Hopefully, each reader shall feel personally the heart and soul of the young men and brave women that defend the principles we hold so dear to our hearts.
MISSION STATEMENT
To give every soldier a voice: a platform to share their views, feelings and experiences on the frontline.
To encourage soldiers to write more about their experiences, with hope this would help them to heal and live a more fulfilled life afterwards.
To connect the public to individual soldiers and their families (loved ones) through their works: poetry, letters and pictures.
To give back to our soldiers (in form of financial rewards) for exceptional literary works.
To use this website as a way to reach and stand by families who have lost a son or a daughter in battle; to show we care.
To help soldiers with talent showcase their works, and use poetry as a vehicle to pry into the hearts of our heroes to fully appreciate them as individuals.
